These programs address various aspects of sustainable coffee production. Each has defined requirements, verified by periodic third-party independent reviews.

USDA Organic
Grown without chemical  inputs, following practices that promote soil health and ecological integrity.

Bird Friendly
100% organic with high standards for diverse shade and habitat protection
Resources: Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign, Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center

Fair Trade
For small farmers, guarantees a "floor" price ($1.31/pound, with possibilities to earn more), paid directly to their cooperatives.

Rainforest Alliance
Certifies farms of all sizes that meet labor and environmental requirements (including diverse shade)
