In honor of Women's History Month, our STEAM Spotlight for March will focus on supporting women in STEAM!
Join the Burke Museum in celebrating Women in STEAM and STEAM-supporting jobs and holding space to highlight amazing work being done at both the Burke and within our community.
– Chat with Burke Educators about the Girls in Science Program.– Co-create ocean poetry with Dr. Xochitl Clare and her portable typewriter
– Celebrate Holi with storytime, a puppet show, and crafts with Hindi Time Kids.
– Join Angelique Guina in the Artist Studio and learn more about her printmaking work.
– Engage with people and organizations within our community that are either woman-owned businesses, run supportive programming, or are female-identifying scientists in our community!
Chat with women in archaeology and paleontology at our Collections Open Doors.
– The archaeology team will talk about the unique role that women specifically have played in the development of cultural resource management firms in Seattle. Learn how women in the PNW have spearheaded this industry as a result of feeling a need to create spaces in the field that are not solely dominated by men in leadership positions.
– Vertebrate paleontology graduate students will share fossil turtles, dicynodonts, and other ancient animal relatives.
