Daily Winter-Themed Activities
Enter the Ice Age or a snowy forest while in the warm comforts of the Burke with fun winter-themed, self-guided activities and crafts for all ages.
Every day through January 5, 2020
- Now – December 22: 2–5 PM Weekdays, 10 AM – 5 PM Weekends
- December 23 – January 5: 10 AM – 5 PM daily
Activities:
- Let it snow! Make a paper snowflakes to take home or decorate our winter scene.
- Use our winter-themed activity sheet to learn about how local animals survive the cold winter months.
- Create an Ice Age holiday card for a loved one.
- Ice Age themed play table with mammoths, mastodons, sloths, and tigers
- Get up close to winter collections and speak with Burke researchers at Collections Open Door programs on weekends
Plus, double up on the fun with extra activities over holiday school break! From December 26 – January 5, additional activities include:
- 11 AM daily: Arctic Storytime with touchable objects from the Burke’s education collections
- 2–3 PM daily: Experience the frigid waters of the arctic and see how arctic animals have adapted to handle these extreme conditions with a blubber glove experiment.
