Join us at the Burke Museum to celebrate the publication of Wild in Seattle: Stories at the Crossroads of People and Nature with author David B. Williams and illustrator Elizabeth Person.
The book launch event will feature conversation with Williams and Person as they discuss the stories behind the stories, a brief Q&A, opportunity to purchase a copy of the book and get it signed, as well as time to enjoy the first floor Culture is Living and Northwest Native Art galleries.
About the Book
Wild in Seattle features more than 40 essays diving into the geology, animals, plants, and architecture that shape Seattle, fully illustrated by celebrated local artist Elizabeth Person, and includes fun and fascinating sidebars that explore regional vocabulary, scientific terms, and Indigenous language phrases.
About the Author
David B. Williams is an author, naturalist, and tour guide whose award-winning books include Homewaters: A Human and Natural History of Puget Sound and Too High and Too Steep: Reshaping Seattle’s Topography, as well as Seattle Walks: Discovering History and Nature in the City. His newest book, Wild in Seattle: Stories at the Crossroads of People and Nature is a best of collection from his free weekly Substack newsletter, the Street Smart Naturalist.
About the Illustrator
Elizabeth Person is known for her unique map illustrations, informational art, and Northwest themes. She works primarily in ink and watercolor from her studio in Everett, WA where she also manages an online store and commissions.
