Join the Burke Museum in celebrating our waterways and the recent gallery installation of Coast Salish s.dəxʷìł (hunting canoe). Museum admission is FREE for ALL from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Event activities include:
– Hear stories about s.dəxʷìł, the Coast Salish hunting canoe that is now on display
– Gallery Talks: 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
– Watch a video about the canoe in the Floor 2 Learning Lab
– See original field notes, tools, and more in the Archaeology Workroom
– Get a closer look at model canoes
– Visit the Artist Studio for a demonstration of cedar stripping and weaving by Elizabeth King George (Nooksack)
– Learn about students' work throughout the galleries
