FIELD EXPERIENCE:

All of the above projects involved extensive field work. In addition, extensive field work since 1971 for personal research on systematics, biogeography, and descriptive ecology of spiders, related arachnids, and cave invert ebrates, spending up to 40 days per year in the field, often as part of formal and semi-formal expeditions organized by the Burke Museum, Cave Research Foundation, and other groups. Also relevant is 22 years of experience building the Burke Museum spider collection from less than 3,000 specimens in canning jars to a fully curated and computer catalogued major systematic resource of over 60,000 specimens. Survey and inventory, Kuril Islands, July-August 1994.

PUBLICATIONS:

Since 1974, 48 scientific publications (four in press) and 43 popular articles on the systematics, biogeography, and descriptive ecology of spiders, related arachnids, and cave invertebrates.
