Welcome to the Okhotskia DatabasesOur database, which provides full access to all collection localities on Sakhalin and in the Kurils, as well as taxonomic information for all organisms identified to date (See Taxonomic Holdings ), is once again available to be searched online. The new search tool now accesses the project's relational database directly, making the most up to date information available. We are still busy working on the next step in our efforts to upgrade access to project data, connecting to the "Species Analyst" project (see link and description below). This will allow us to combine our data in a meaningful way with other natural history collections. There are two ways to query the database, by taxon or by locality information. Search results can be returned in two forms. The first is a summary list of records returned, with links to pages containing the complete information for each individual record. The second is a page that contains rows of delimited text of all the returned information (each record with all of its columns) for importing into spreadsheet software.
The links below lead to the search pages:
Project goals: "The Species Analyst is a research project developing standards and software tools for access to the world's natural history collection and observation databases. The standards and software developed on the Species Analyst project provides a mechanism for combining most of these collection databases into a single, coherent, and readily searchable virtual database." |
