Label: Large rectangular burden basket with leather tumplines, made by the Tsilhqot'in in British Columbia. Basket is coiled of split cedar root, and fully imbricated with bear grass and cherry bark on the walls. The bottom is a coiled rectangular platform to which the walls are then attached. The basket has a reinforced bottom and an extra wood batten sewn around the top, approximately 2" below the rim. The walls are decorated with four design fields: simple serrated line at the top (above batten), vertical designs (stacked chevrons alternating with checkerboard), band of interconnected diamonds (fishnet), and bottom band repeats the vertical designs. The rim is wrapped with bird quills.
