Ronquils are coastal bottomfishes found only in the North Pacific. There are about seven species currently recognized in this family, one of which occurs in Puget Sound. Our Northern Ronquil reaches about 18 cm in length. Although this ronquil is fairly common in Puget Sound, its secretive habits make it a rarely seen fish.
